This is a blog, which is in essence a place of entertainment as well as a place where you can have your say by contributing your wisdom, or just sharing your thoughts and stories. Currently I am curating interesting titbits from around the internet, but as our community grows it will be great to develop a character of its own. Lets find joy here.

local news! where do we start?
As a part of a developing community portal with the mission to make the lives of people living here on Corfu Island or visiting better, then the world is your oyster.
This blog is a place to share news (good & bad) as long as it follows the mission. We have some amazing characters here. They must have stories to tell, and even if they can’t maybe you can. We want to improve our knowledge of our home in as many ways as you want to express it, so in the immortal words of somebody? – just bring it on!
yes, everyone can post and comment, but…
In order to post information or comments here you have to be a member, for obvious reasons. The main one is accountability. Like the town squares of old, anyone could speak, but they didn’t do it through anonymity, they climbed on a box so everyone could see and hear them. We are the same.
there are many small businesses here in Corfu.
Take the opportunity to tell us your story. Advertising here may not be appropriate (but we will see how that pans out), but if you are a business owner, tell us your story or have a friend do it for you. We are all humans and would love to here how the local mechanic became who she is, her journey to here and now and everything her business does. An infographic or advertorial if you like (going back to the old magazine days).Let people know about your business and hopefully people will want to use your services. We are about locals helping locals.
What about arts and crafts, local groups, people with special interests or skills and knowledge.
If you have anything to share about your passion or your skills or whats happening, let us know. If you know something about the island that you would think others would like to know, whether they are locals or visitors, jump online and share it. Unlike facebook or other social media, it will be able to be found easily and maybe even build a following.

As English is my only language (an ex antipodean from a small island with no neighbours is my excuse), I can only start this in one language. However, as soon as I have a moment I will add a language translation script and we will all be able to share, no matter where we hail from.

this blog is the first opening for us to start sharing knowledge and wisdom and stories, but over the coming weeks and months we are developing other stuff too.
Directories of local businesses where locals or visitors can find what they need, be it a service or goods. We have a job portal to help people find work. We have a community forum that will double as a searchable fact storage for ways to make life easier and better. A real estate portal where you can find a place to rent or even to buy or sell your home. An events portal to promote your local events, create groups to have events and even a dating app.
